About Freddy Bastone

Born and raised in the Bronx, Freddy Bastone came into his own following in the musical footsteps of his father, a drummer. In his early years, Freddy studied the guitar and drums playing to his favorite influences [who still are today] The Clash, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Barry White, Earth Wind and Fire, etc.

While attending high school, Freddy shifted his musical talents towards the turntables, and started playing parties throughout the five boroughs. Not long after, Freddy landed his first serious gig at Danceteria, where club guru Rudolf heard his talent and hired him on the spot. Given his new weekly residency, Freddy was spinning everything from the hits of the day [English Beat, The Jam, Depeche Mode, etc.], to funk and good old rock and roll.

Soon Freddy was playing every Friday and Saturday night. Being the source of the new off-the-boat hits, Freddy became a favorite of record producers and A&R reps. Freddy was soon asked to work with with long time producer John Luongo to be his club ears in the studio, helping touch up John Wait, Blamage, Toni Basil and more.

In the next few years following, Freddy took to working with record labels Profle Records [Paul Hardcastle], Epic Records [Will To Power, Full House], Emergency Records, Quark Records [Taffy, Blaze], Atlantic Records [Nu Shooz].

While he was signing hits to labels, Freddy was also busy making his own mark producing and mixing his own hits: Corporation Of One, George Michael, Jackson 5, The Temptations, Queen, Nu Shooz, Voices In Fashion, When In Rome, The Cominards, Rod Stewart, Judas Priest, Rick Astley, Dread Flintstone, Bananarama, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Malcolm McClaren, JM Silk, etc. All the while hitting the turntable circuit all over the world, from the USA to Europe and Asia.

Freddy has seen #1 hits with Jameriqua, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, and a Journey mash up, as well as critically acclaimed works with Radio Head, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Rod Stewart, Taxi Dolls, Hall and Oates, and Tina Sugandh to name a few.

Not limiting himself to just music, Freddy has launched an acting career, which has led him to appear on episodes of 'Law and Order', 'The Sopranos', and 'Life On Marz'.

Freddy has done remixes with Interpol, Tina Sugandh, Beyonce, P Diddy, Taxi Dolls, Brandy, Carlton Ford, Pravda, and many more. He has also produced rapper Cashea Jones, Jossie Cotton, Jessie J, Radio Head, and Roger Taylor. Freddy has also teamed up with a new partner engineer/producer Kent Rock-A-Feller on a brand new record label called 'Pretty Aggro'. The first single is 'The Real Life 2011' which is a remake/makeover of Bastone's 'Corporation of One' 1989 #1 hit. The track also is accompanied by a groundbreaking video from director Ray Hamlyn. The second single will be an anti gay-bashing track titled 'The Killing of Georgie', which will feature Freddy on vocals. Freddy is also currently working with producers Mark Henry, Tony Mangurian, Robert Arron, and Kent Rockafeller who is copertner in Pretty Aggro Records. Recently, Freddy Bastone has remixed Jessi J, Adele, Freddie Mercury/Queen, and new solo projects (EP) on the new label "No Filtr".

On the Acting side, Freddy has just finished to critical acclaim 'Free Form Mouth', a one-man show on Lenny Bruce, two 'Law and Order: SVU' episodes, and is working with director John Gallager on a number of films. Also, Freddy is working on the ABC Soap Opera 'One Life To Live', and is doing yet another one-man show on Tennessee Williams titled 'Dri' by Susan Batson at Black Nexuss Theater. He also just landed his first lead in a movie called "Curse."

The near future consists of four new films (including 'Fickle' directed by John Gallagher), Boardwalk Empire, making his label with partner Kent Rocka-Feller, a viable and groundbreaking label of integrity [not just putting out dance tracks that say nothing and do nothing, which seems to be the norm these days]. Freddy is also currently getting together with mentor John Luongo on doing jingles for some worldwide major companies, and of course is keeping on keeping on in the remix/production world.

Additionally, Freddy is DJ-ing at New York's G2, Rebar 28, Gaven's Port, Chantelle, and touring Canada and the UK.
